High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging enables the capture and representation of a significantly wider range of luminance levels than conventional Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) imaging, allowing scenes to be reproduced with improved visual realism and detail. However, since most display devices operate within a limited dynamic range, HDR content must be converted to SDR through tone mapping. This process must compress a large luminance range while preserving perceptual details, maintaining contrast, ensuring temporal stability in videos, and keeping computational complexity suitable for real-time applications.
